Historic House Museums

Back in 1996, when our web master Matt Knowles was first introduced to the World Wide Web, he was amazed by the amount of information that was freely available. Back then the Internet was a community, not the commercial monster it has since become. He wanted to give back to this virtual community, and decided that the Internet needed a good list of historic homes that were open to the public. At the time he had a lot of free time on his hands, and so he scoured AAA directories and the Internet and began compiling a state by state list of historic house museums. He was able to get through 38 states when he started his own company, Aesthetic Design & Photography, and found his time to work on this project limited. He also realized that it would be much better to have all of this information in a database to make it easier to update. So he sat down and taught himself PHP and MySQL and worked on a database solution. But then again his life took another turn that made more demands on his time, and so he hasn't been able to finish the program.
