Alta

Ghost town

Not really a house museum, but Alta is one of the most scenic mining ghost towns from the Victorian era. Helps if you have 4-wheel drive.

Black Hawk

Lace House

Built in the 1860s, the filigreed facade gives the house its name.

Denver

Byers-Evans House & Denver History Museum

One admission gets you into the ornately furnished 1880 home and Denver's history museum.

Colorado Governor's Mansion

This colonial revival mansion contains a collection of artwork from Europe and Asia.

Four Mile Historic Park

Denver's oldest house is preserved in this park.

The Grant-Humphreys Mansion

Located in Denver's "Quality Hill" neighborhood, this impressive Beaux Arts mansion was built in 1900-1902 and features 42 rooms. Originally the house featured its own bowling alley, but the second owners converted it into a shooting gallery.

The Molly Brown House Museum

It is fitting that Molly Brown's house is now a museum, as not only is she well known for survivingthe sinking of the Titanic, but she was also Denver's first preservationist. In 1930 she purchased poet Eugene Field's home and gave it to Denver. In 1970, Historic Denver, Inc. was founded to save Molly's house from demolition. The 1889 stone Queen Anne has been restored to its 1910 appearance, since the interior was photographed during that year.

Evergreen

Humphrey Memorial Park and Museum

Inside the historic homestead, now a museum, the Humphrey family's treasures are viewed just as they lived with them. Each item that belonged to the family is still housed here nearly exactly as the last resident, Hazel Lou Humphrey left them.

Fairplay

South Park City Museum

This recreated mining town was built in 1957. Some of the buildings are in their original locations, others were moved from the surrounding areas to the park. Over 30 buildings are open, with 4 homes showing the pioneer lifestyle.

Fraser

Cozens Ranch House

An 1876 ranch house, stagestop and post office.

Georgetown

Hamill House

Construction started on this house in 1867, and it was expanded over the next two decades until it reached its present form. The grounds include a privy (divided in half for family and servants), a carriage house and stable, office and laundry building. The house is interesting for its early use of bay windows and solarium. The house contains the original walnut woodwork, wall and ceiling papers, and four fireplaces. There are lots of other fine Victorians in Georgetown, so be sure to drive or walk around a bit.

Greeley

Meeker Home Museum

A two-story adobe house built in 1870 for Nathan C. Meeker, the founder of Greeeley.

Lincoln County Museum

An old family home has been restored with authentic antique pieces and features a costume room with clothing dating back to the 1800s.

Pueblo

Rosemount Victorian House Museum

Built in 1893, this 37 room mansion and its original furnishings were donated to the city.

Baca House, Bloom Mansion and Trinidad History Museum

Two fully furnished houses from the 1870s and 1880s plus a museum of pioneer artifacts and photos.
